Opinion

My Saturday mornings usually begin with praying on the phone with a 7:00 a.m. prayer group. On the morning of December 18, 2021, before and after prayer we had discussions about situations that were affecting our lives. Our conversation was a little dismal – not faith filled – not realizing the hopelessness of what we were speaking.

After our discussions and prayer, we hung up and preceded to start our day. My day started with exercising on the treadmill, as I was exercising, and thinking about our conversations and prayers, the amazing word ‘hope’ came to my mind; along with the scripture in Romans 8:24-25(1); “For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.”

The Strong’s Concordance defined hope as to anticipate, usually with pleasure.

In every situation, why do we not pounce into the liberating word of hope, but sink into the deep agonizing waters of despair?

In the Old Testament Book of Ezekiel 37:3; God asked Ezekiel, “Son of man, can these bones live”? At that point, when God asked the question, the bones did not have any life within them. Why speak to a dead situation? So that those dead bones may live.

Our vision must change. ‘Father, we pray, by Your Holy Spirit, that our vision may change to reflect what we say is what we believe that which is according to Your Word and only Your Word, and not to despair in various uninvited situations that bombard our lives.’ In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

Romans 15:13(1), “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

By and with the Spirit of Grace, may we begin to look up from the grave and not look down at the grave. In other words, speak life to those things that need life. It is not beneficial to speak light into the light, the benefit is to speak light to those things that need light.

May we believe in the power of our words.

For those who read this, I present a challenge to each one of us. To spend more time with God, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit. This may be accomplished by reading the Bible more or even start to read the Bible and to spend more time with the Father in prayer.

Let us start today.
