Lamentations
Session 5
Reflect – Webster defines as to think deeply or carefully about something.
Time of Reflection
Looking at the above definition for reflect, I encourage each one of us to think deeply on this biblical verse written in the Book of Lamentations, “They are new every morning.” One may ask, “what is new every morning?” Recognizing at the beginning of the above verse, the word “they” is at the lead. This may give us the understanding to look for the plentiful.
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 3:20, that God can do exceeding, abundantly, above all that we ask or think – what God is able to do is more than enough during our lifetime
The answer to the above question, “what is new every morning?” is found in the previous verse written in Lamentations 3:22. The word “they” is referring to God’s mercies. Because of God’s compassions for us, He gives mercies that are waiting on us to rise in the morning. Thank You Lord Jesus!
By reading the Word of God, I have gained a heart understanding that compassion is defined as having a godly characteristic, that will cause a person to act on the behalf of another, to help alleviate their pain.
The Bible has given us an abundance of evidence about the compassions of Jesus Christ. In Matthews 14:14, the Lord Jesus moved with compassion, so He healed the sick. In Matthew 15:32, The Lord Jesus had compassion on the multitude, so He fed them. In Mark 1:41, the Lord moved with compassion, so He put forth His hand and touched a man then spoke life to him.
The Apostle Paul wrote in the Book of Corinthians in 11:1 to be followers of Christ, even as he(Paul) was a follower. A question one may ask himself or herself, am I following in the path of the Lord Jesus moving with a heart of compassion to help someone in their time of need?
In the Book of Jude 22, the Bible states, “And of some have compassion, making a difference.”
Just as The Lord Jesus moved with compassion, may we also move with compassion to assist someone during their time of trouble.
Prayer
Father, we come to you in the Name of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, asking You to touch our hearts that we too may have hearts of compassion to act on the behalf of another In Jesus Name
Amen.
